What to Watch This Weekend: Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and More

It’s time to look at what to watch this weekend on the best streaming services – Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu etc. Let’s dive into the rundown of what to watch right now.

Wolf Like Me

Wolf Like Me
  • Genre: Romance
  • Where to Watch: Peacock, Peacock Premium

A supernatural rom-com has long been missing from the realm of streaming content, but now, happily, Peacock’s Wolf Like Me is coming to fill the vacuum. Abe Forsythe’s six-part Australian television series centres on stressed-out widower/single father Gary (Josh Gad), who keeps running into the enigmatic Mary (Isla Fisher). Although they are clearly connected, Mary has a propensity to flee during full moons—yes, she is a full-fledged werewolf! Wolf Like Me offers a howling good time with its delicate performances, humorous mistakes, and unexpectedly tender moments. The title is what to watch this weekend streaming.

The Sopranos: The Pine Barrens

The Sopranos The Pine Barrens
  • Genre: Drama
  • Where to Watch: HBO MAX, HBO NOW, Prime Video, iTunes, VUDU, Google Play, YouTube

There are many ways to remember the great Tony Sirico, but we suggest watching “The Pine Barrens,” the hilarious, ideal episode from Season 3 of The Sopranos. In the episode, Paulie (Sirico) and Christopher (Michael Imperioli) are searching for a curiously unkillable Russian mobster while stuck in the wilderness of New Jersey during the dead of winter. From the moment he loses his shoe to his perfectly timed response to Christopher eating old ketchup packets for dinner, Sirico does his all-out Paulie Walnuts performance. If you’re looking for dramatic story, this is what to watch this weekend on Netflix.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2

Sonic The Hedgehog 2
  • Genre: Children’s/Family
  • Where to Watch: EPIX, Paramount+, Prime Video, iTunes, VUDU, Epix Now

The Sonic the Hedgehog movies shouldn’t be as wonderful as they are for no apparent reason. To be truthful, the sequel doesn’t quite have the same charm and inventiveness as the first. Even the more predictable treasure-hunting plot is entertaining to watch since the cast is having so much fun, especially Ben Schwartz as the voice of the titular hedgehog and newcomer Idris Elba as the ridiculously literal Knuckles the Echidna. A family movie you won’t mind watching a second (or third) time is one with James Marsden as Sonic’s sincere human friend and a scene-stealing Jim Carrey as the villain Dr. Robotnik.

Fboy Island

Fboy Island
  • Genre: Documentary/Reality
  • Where to Watch: HBO Max

I realise we overuse the phrase “back and better than ever,” but there is no other way to describe FBOY Island’s triumphant return for Season 2 on HBO Max. It’s back and better than ever, more audacious, raunchy, and wacky than ever. Once again, host Nikki Glaser will be on hand to offer gentle counsel to three single women and tough humour to a group of men who are all f-boys until proven otherwise. We never could have anticipated how much fun and unexpected insight Season 1 of FBOY Island would be. This is what to watch on HBO Max right now.

Alone – Season 8

Alone – Season 8
  • Genre: Documentary/Reality
  • Where to Watch: PlutoTV, Netflix, Discovery+, Hulu, Prime Video, iTunes, VUDU

Alone, a well-known survivalist reality TV series, had its season 8 premiere on The History Channel back in June 2021, but it only recently made it onto Netflix’s Top 10 list after the streaming behemoth made all 12 episodes available. If you’re not familiar, the basic premise is that ten participants are left alone in the middle of nowhere, far from their nearest rival, and must survive by utilising only their wits. They need to build a home, find food, maintain mental discipline, and, most terrifyingly, defend themselves against wild predators. On Chiliko Lake, also referred to as Grizzly Mountain, in Canada’s British Columbia, this season’s scenes were captured on camera.

Beavis And Butt-Head Do The Universe

Beavis And Butt-Head Do The Universe
  • Genre: Animation
  • Where to Watch: Paramount+

One of the film’s best visual jokes includes repeatedly pushing a massive cylinder into a small hole, as Butt-Head astutely points out – where NASA engineers discover that they have an extraordinary knack for handling the Space Shuttle’s docking equipment. The two are assigned to a space mission, which (of course) goes horribly wrong. The astonishing title is what to watch right now.
