It’s Sunday and time to look at what to watch this weekend on the best streaming services – Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu etc. Let’s dive into the rundown of what to watch right now.

Father of the Bride

Father of the Bride

  • Where to Stream: Amazon Prime Video, iTunes Store, Vudu, Hulu, TNT, TBS

Let’s take a look back at the 1991 version of Father of the Bride, starring Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley, in honour of HBO Max’s adaptation of the original film. When Annie (Williams-Paisley) returns from studying abroad in Italy and announces her engagement to her close-knit family, her overprotective father George (Martin) must learn to accept that his daughter is maturing — even if it means dealing with an extravagant wedding planner (Martin Short). Father of the Bride (1991) is a film that will have you laughing one minute and crying the next. It portrays the story of an enduring love between a father and his daughter. The title is what to watch on Amazon Prime Video other streaming services right now.

The Stepfather (2009)

The Stepfather (2009)
  • Genre: Thriller
  • Where to Stream: Amazon Prime Video, iTunes Store, Hulu

The Stepfather follows Michael Harding (Penn Badgley), a military student who returns home to find his divorced mother Susan (Sela Ward) having an affair with another man. But not just any dude, mind you. David (Dylan Walsh) is your average knight in shining armour, at least that’s what we assume. After seeing predatory conduct and strange circumstances that scream “serial killer,” Michael is horrified by his findings and can’t shake the idea that David is putting on a show. The Stepfather does not disappoint with superb performances and a mind-blowing premise.

Heartstopper Netflix
  • Genre: Romance
  • Where to Stream: Netflix

Netflix’s Heartstopper is a wonderful instance of how to transfer a graphic novel to screen. It’s easily one of the best, if not the best, shows of the year. The young ensemble of the series shines via a succession of brilliantly produced scenes that look like they jumped off the comics page and onto the screen, while yet feeling like a TV programme, thanks to the partnership between writer Alice Oseman and director Euros Lyn. What about the narrative, though? The episode follows Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), an out gay student at an English boys’ school who falls head over heals for popular rugby player Nick Nelson (Kit Conner). Nick could be a straight guy. Heartstopper is a flawless romantic comedy that will make your heart swell and eyes fill with tears. It is inclusive, uplifting, sensitive, but never shying away from difficult subjects. The title is what to watch this weekend on Netflix right now.

Generation Drag

  • Genre: Documentary/Reality
  • Where to Stream: Discovery+

Generation Drag on Discovery+ is a must-see for fans of HBO’s emotive and revolutionary drag makeover show We’re Here. The docuseries follows a group of kids and tweens from across the country as they prepare for the Dragutante stage act in Colorado. The show is a lot of fun to watch — after all, these kids are actors — but it’s also a lot more essential. Generation Drag does an excellent job of portraying the life of the next generation of LGBT artists, entertainers, and activists, as well as the families who love them for who they are. Given that we live in a hell where Republican lawmakers are attempting to outlaw drag queens rather than guns.
