Eventually, the latest holiday update from Tesla will allow people to use a new Boombox mode that can broadcast custom audio on the outside of the vehicle (hence the name). As is typical with new Tesla technologies, Boombox blends real utility with low-brow humor: instead of regular, dull honking noises, owners can use fart and goat sounds that car horns normally produce.
As part of 2020.48.26 firmware update of Tesla, Boombox mode was rolled out with a range of other upgrades and is something that Tesla customers have enthusiastically awaited. In the new Boombox feature, as can be seen in the time-stamped segment of the video below, many sounds can be used instead of a standard horn for Tesla owners via the Toybox section: goat baaing, applause, a little “tada” clip, somebody talking posh and, needless to say, the fart.
How does Boombox Mode Work?
Although owners of Tesla have been able to generate fart sounds within the car for some while, the Boombox mode functionally enables individuals with newer models to use the built-in speaker that throws audio outside the car to unwary individuals. The speaker is built-in for Tesla cars created after September 1st, 2019. The speakers were installed since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration required silent electric cars to produce some sound to alert pedestrians. And according to Teslarati, here’s an overview of what Boombox mode can do:
Transform your car into a Boombox and, when seated, impress a crowd with your media player. When you push the horn, drive the car, or when your car is moving with Summon, you can also adjust the noise your car produces. From the drop down menu, pick a function or attach your own USB device and save up to five unique tones.
Farting isn’t meant for honking only. A Tesla “Emissions Testing Mode” upgrade, which is a fart sequencing code, implies that cars can now fart anytime they want, and people outside will not be able to escape the noises. Adds Teslarati:
Emissions Testing Mode can be used outside the car. To setup, select your desired sound and place the cushion on the external speaker. When ready, play selected sound by pressing the left scroll wheel button or using the turn signal. To access, tap the Application Launcher > Toybox > Emissions Testing Mode.
Besides being able to fart, individuals may also use the Boombox feature of Tesla to annoy neighbors in other respects. A Tesla can now, for instance, produce the same sound as an ice cream truck, depending on the aforementioned video. But this summer, if anyone truly wishes to play a cruel joke on children, just drive around the neighborhood and play a jovial song that makes kids think of ice cream cones and popsicles.
Being able to upload five tunes also implies that individuals can seemingly drive their Tesla cars around neighborhood with whichever audio they like. “Move Bitch,” Musk referred to the custom upload feature when one person asked Tesla CEO Elon Musk if they could drive their car to Ludacris’ classic ’00s hit’, “Move Bitch”.
There are more than enough of other updates that arrived with the holiday update this year. Car owners have access to three new games they can play when parked – The Battle of Polytopia, Cat Quest, and Solitaire. The firmware update also includes Supercharge display upgrades and planned departure changes.
