Boyce was recognized on several Disney shows for his roles. From 2011 to 2015 he played Luke Ross in the Disney Channel comedy “Jessie,” and Carlos in the three television movies “Descendants.”

According to ABC News, the actor developed epilepsy and died comfortably in his sleep because of a seizure.

Last year, Boyce’s mother, Libby Boyce, began Cameron Boyce Foundation when her son passed away. According to Newsweek, she has used it to raise awareness for Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) and others who have lost dear ones.

”Here are hundreds of mothers who have lost a child to SUDEP, yet I had never heard of SUDEP even though Cameron was diagnosed with epilepsy at 17 years old. I intend to use my voice on behalf of these moms to bring a face to this tragic issue and to bring attention to epilepsy,” his mother said, according to Newsweek.

Victor Boyce, the father of Boyces, took a loving picture of the two to Instagram with the caption, “His memory is a blessing.”

Since Monday morning, Twitter has been filled with a variety of posts using the hashtag, #CameronBoyce, to pay tribute to the Disney star.

“Jessie” co-star, Skai Jackson, tweeted, “1 year in Heaven … times goes by too fast, everyone misses you and loves you! I hope you know and see that.”

Actress Holly Robinson Peete added, “Cameron Boyce is so missed. Prayers up to his family and friends.”
