When you’re not saying “no,” then this means “maybe.”
So then “maybe,” turns into “could.” So “could” be a nightmare for your franchise, as well.
In recent months, we have used this space on numerous occasions to acknowledge that the quarterback Lamar Jackson between Brown and Baltimore Ravens has been flirting. After everything, a free agent remains the star pass catcher.
He’s still an All-Pro-type player, though he’s a combustible player and will likely be suspended.
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta failed to give a hard “no” when asked about the notion of bringing Brown to Maryland early May.
Coach Pete Carroll made it sound like the Seattle Seahawks did a look last year. And this season, quarterback Russell Wilson apparently made a few overtures.
Now the smoke appears to be getting more fire. From both sides.
Michael Silver, of the NFL Network, reports that both franchises had “internal discussions” about signing Brown.
Antonio Brown, as Silver points out, has long been unusually silent on social media. And maybe this is an sign he’s turning a new leaf around.
But there’s still no indication how long the league may suspend him for his role in an alleged sexual assault that dates back to last year. It was put forward in a civil suit by the former teacher Britney Taylor.
Brown lodged a counterclaim.
Any team that signs Antonio Brown will probably want to get him on board as soon as possible to the training camp, so as not to be responsible for any of his actions until practices start. And depending on what the league does, they might need to be ready for an extended absence.
The longer teams like the Ravens and Seahawks allow rumors to linger, the more the discussion becomes normalized. And the more seductive Brown’s abilities appear.
You just need to ask yourself how long A.B. Could remain A.B., and how long before “Mr. Big Chest “appears again.
