Robert Unanue, the family-owned operation’s chief executive since 2004, said the country was “blessed” to have Trump at the helm, during comments following a round-table with Hispanic business and political rulers across the country.

Unanue said during the Rose Garden speech, “We’re all truly blessed at the same time to have a leader like President Trump, who is a builder.”

“We have an incredible builder. And we pray. We pray for our leadership, our president, and we pray for our country — that we will continue to prosper and to grow.”

Unanue has also confirmed a plan to donate 1 million Goya Foods chickpea cans and 1 million pounds of food to food banks, along with some collaborators.
Since his first campaign speech for the presidency, Trump has maintained a close connection with most of the Hispanic community in which he portrayed Mexican immigrants as “rapists” and “criminals.”

Unanue, a Spanish American third-generation, has angered many with his remarks, including some high-profile Democrats, who have also indicated that they will no longer promote Goya’s products.

“Oh look, it’s the sound of me Googling ‘how to make your own Adobo,'” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez stated in a tweet on Thursday night, referring to the famous seasoning.
