Update: Dre just sent a message to thank everyone for their love and encouragement, saying, “Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their concern and good wishes. I’m doing well and I’m getting great treatment from my medical team. I’m going to be out of the hospital and back home soon.
Since suffering a brain aneurysm, Dr Dre is at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles…. .
Dre-related sources and direct knowledge tell us that Dre suffered the aneurysm on Monday and was rushed to Cedars by ambulance and taken directly to the ICU, where he remains on Tuesday.
The 55-year-old music mogul, our sources say, is safe and lucid, but doctors don’t know what caused the bleeding and are running a battery of tests.
As you know, Dr. dre and his estranged wife, Nicole, are in the midst of a very contentious divorce. Nicole needs $2 million a month in temporary spousal support and $5 million for legal fees, as we mentioned, but Dre says he’s been covering all of her bills, so the demand for $2 thousand was outlandish. He also claims the attorney’s fees are outrageous because for a few months her attorneys have just been working on the case.
And, as we mentioned, Nicole wants a judge to reject the 1996 prenuptial agreement she signed, arguing that early in the marriage, Dre tore it up. Dr. rejects that quite strongly.
There is a hearing in downtown L.A. on Wednesday. On both questions. Obviously, Dre is not going to attend and we presume the judge is going to continue the matter.
The prolific rapper, who collaborated with artists such as 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, The Game and Kendrick Lamar, later joined forces with Jimmy Iovine, the record company executive, in 2006 to launch Beats by Dr. Dre. Apple acquired the brand for $3 billion in 2014.
