Broncos running back Melvin Gordon was summoned late Tuesday to drive under the influence of the Denver Police Department, revealing court and police records.
At 5th Avenue and Speer Boulevard, Gordon was also ticketed for speeding between 25 mph and 39 mph over the limit. On Friday, Nov. 13, he is due to be arraigned in Denver County Court. The Broncos are leaving for a Las Vegas game against the Raiders the next day.
When asked for comment, the Broncos issued this statement:
“The situation involving Melvin Gordon is known to us. Our company has been in contact with him and is in the process of collecting more information.
The Broncos took the last three days off, but at 11 a.m. they resumed practice. Wednesday in preparation for their Latest England game on Sunday. Since he signed a two-year, $16 million deal with the Broncos in March, Gordon is coming off his best game. Late in the Broncos’ game against the New York Jets, his 43-yard touchdown run clinched a 37-28 victory, Denver’s first of the season.
Gordon, 27, finished the win with 107 yards on 23 carries at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Gordon could face a two- or three-game suspension from the league on the basis of how the league has disciplined previous DUI incidents with other teams.
