The moment has finally arrived! Starting today, November 15, Samsung will begin pushing out its major One UI 4 and Android 12 update to the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra.
This announcement follows the conclusion of a two-month One UI 4 beta test for the Galaxy S21 series. The majority of the modifications Samsung is implementing today have been available in beta since September. However, as with stable builds vs. beta versions, today’s upgrade will be far more polished and bug-free than any of the prior builds.
The Samsung keyboard app is gaining new emoji options, GIFs, and stickers. The press announcement didn’t disclose much details, but it did include a video (above) showing an Expressive Emoji function. You can use the keyboard to choose two emoji and send them as an animated GIF to a messaging app.
Samsung’s One UI 4 software skin and Android 12 update give the S21 series more customization choices. Users will be able to choose from new colour palettes that will alter the appearance of their home screen, app icons, alerts, and wallpaper. Samsung is also releasing “reimagined” widgets with more personalization options.
Because we’re talking about Android 12 update, the Galaxy S21 series will also get additional privacy and security features. S21 phones will get Android 12’s Privacy Dashboard, which integrates all security and privacy features together in one place. When an app tries to access your camera or microphone, you’ll get a notification. From the quick settings menu, you can completely off microphone and camera access.
